About LB Dry Needling and Manual Therapy PLLC
LB Dry Needling offers concierge based dry needling and soft tissue mobilization techniques performed by a skilled Doctor of Physical Therapy. Unlike traditional physical therapy, your session will include primarily manual therapy techniques like dry needling and will be based on individualized needs. As we are not contracted with insurances, patients are welcome to attend appointments for maintenance without restrictions.
The benefit of having a skilled physical therapist perform your dry needling is the ability to provide a complete musculoskeletal assessment and determine your treatment plan. If appropriate, an individualized home exercise program will be reviewed and issued to the patient. Although this is not traditional physical therapy, your practitioner will provide the appropriate patient education, activity progressions and manual techniques to optimize your results.

How Dry Needling Works
Dry needling is defined by the American Physical Therapy Association as “a technique used to treat dysfunction of skeletal muscle and connective tissue, minimize pain, and improve or regulate structural or functional damage.” A sterile monofilament needle is utilized to target trigger points or “taut” bands of tissue, ligaments, tendons and bone. Trigger points can be responsible for creating pain and dysfunction. As the needle is inserted into the muscle knot ideally a twitch response is elicited. This allows the muscle to relax, increasing blood flow and restarting the physiological healing process. We also practice peri-neural and peri-vascular dry needling with the addition of electrical stimulation to further promote blood flow and facilitate pain relief within the nervous system.
It is important to note that dry needling is not acupuncture. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine and performed by acupuncturists. The techniques used at LB Dry Needling and Manual Therapy PLLC are based on modern medicine principles and heavily supported by medical research. Our professional experience has shown that dry needling can dramatically speed up the recovery time associated with injuries and common degenerative conditions.
